Lenny, aka “The Bird,” was a good person. Angelic and always had something nice to say. He left a legacy of kindness and fairness that is hard to surpass.

I was part of "The Guys" group (which of course included the girls)  that were close friends with Len when we were all young. The first thing you noticed was his height and secondly his infectious smile. My earliest memories are going to his mom's home to listen to Cousin' Brucie on Sunday afternoons. We were given strict instructions to stay off of the furniture and no snacks or drinks allowed in the living room. We moved on from our radio days to fixing cars in the garage and waiting "up the park" everyday for the Mr. Softee truck to arrive. It was easy to see even back then that we all had each other's back and Len being the natural leader that he was made sure of that. Many a young romance bloomed from those days at Memorial Park. Friday night was reserved for CYO. We had our own corner so that all of our friends knew just where to find us. One year Queen of Peace put on the play 'West Side Story" with Mr. Wright directing as always. Len and the guys who rode motorcycles actually had them on the stage. The fake fight scene actually had a few real punches thrown! As time passed and we all went our separate ways but we make it a point to always make sure that some of the gang knew where the others were. Strange as it may sound a group of us were to get together this past October but one of the guy's wives got sick which delayed the dinner. When we finally do get to go out you can rest assured that we'll raise a glass to our forever friend Len.
